Public-input meetings set on design of Dulles South center

The Loudoun County Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services and the Department of Transportation and Capital Infrastructure, in conjunction with HGA Architects and Engineers of the District, will have two public-input sessions regarding the design of Phase 3 of the Dulles South Multipurpose Center project.

Phase 3 calls for the addition of a full-service senior center. To meet the growing need for community programs, as well as a dedicated space for senior programs, the Board of Supervisors accelerated funding for the Phase 3 design during fiscal 2014 budget deliberations.

The meetings will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. next Thursday at the Dulles South Multipurpose Center, 24950 Riding Center Dr., South Riding.

The sheriff’s office’s Media Relations and Communications Section and the Emergency Communications Center have streamlined the process of sending traffic and road closing alerts through Alert Loudoun.

Residents who subscribe to these alerts will now receive e-mails and texts about road closings and travel delays caused by crashes or other incidents.

The sheriff’s office has also added a mapping system to its traffic-incident Web site. This will enable commuters to see the locations of incidents being worked by the sheriff’s office, the Middleburg Police Department, the Purcellville Police Department and the Virginia State Police.
